On Friday May 27th at 4:42 p.m. our little boy was born! I am going to write the whole story so I don't forget it... On Wed. May 25th I had my weekly doctor appt. This time he was going to check to see if I was dilated any. While he was checking the doctor got this surprised look on his face and asked if I had been feeling lots of pressure. I answered not really and he then told me I was dilated to a 4 1/2! We were all shocked and Tyler's face was hilarious cause he kept telling me this baby will come late. The doctor didn't want to wait another week for my next appt cause he said the baby would most likely be here before then. We made an appt for Friday morning. When we got there Friday not much had changed in my body or contractions weren't worse so I thought I would be the same. When the doctor checked and told me I was at a 6 I was shocked! I hadn't really been feeling anything! Something is wrong with my body I swear! He then sent us to the hospital and he was going to break my water and get some contractions going. We got to the hospital around noon and they didn't have any rooms available and since I wasn't in a lot of pain and my contractions weren't bad they sent us home until they had some space. We headed over to my moms since she lives close to the hospital and were just waiting until they called. Tyler then told me I should walk up and down the stairs and try and get my own labor going. So I ran up and down the stairs 4 times and my water broke immediately! We then rushed to the hospital and got checked in. The doctor had to finish breaking my water (it didn't break all the way) and after that my labor went very very fast. Our baby was born within 2 hours of us getting to the hospital. The birth process is amazing and even though I went through the toughest pain I can imagine it was worth every second of it! I thought I would be an emotional mess when he was put in my arms but I was so exhausted from the labor it was just instant relief and no tears came! I got to hold him for a good while before the nurses took him away to weigh him. It was such a special experience! I am such a proud mom and am so glad I went through what I did for this little boy. The bond between a mom and baby is amazing! Well here are some pictures of our special day and our special baby boy!
Right after getting our room
Right after he was born I got to hold him skin to skin for about 10 min or so
right before his bath
getting ready to go home
Leaving to go home! We only had to stay one night which was so nice!!
Bridger Gene Thompson born May 27th 4:42 p.m. weighed 7 lbs even and was 20 in. long.
If he hadn't come 2 1/2 weeks early I couldn't imagine going through birth with a bigger baby!
Kori

ReplyDeleteCongrats Kori!! That is so exciting and I am SUPER jealous he came so early (and on his own at that!) for you!! (I'll be 38 weeks this Fri & was barely a 1 at my app last week! boo. Your post sounds like you went completely natural--no epidural--am I right!? How exciting is that!? I did it with Dallin and plan on doin' it with all if of them (hoping no complications ever occur!). Yeah the pain is so crazy different than anything I'd imagined but it is SO worth it anyway when it's all over and you see that sweet thing!! :) I felt like it made the joyful happiness and whole experience that much more magnified and wonderful. I'm so happy for your little family!!! :D Congrats congrats congrats!! :) post again soon! :)

ReplyDeleteUmm.... I read this with my jaw dropped down to the floor! I think you are one of those girls that is MADE to have 10 kids! That is so not fair but so awesome that it went so smoothly for you! How in the heck did you not feel any major contractions and you were dilated to a six!? You either have a very high pain tolerance or you are wonder woman! I think it is the second! You go girl!! He is such a doll! I can't wait to see him in person! Congrats on becoming a mommy! It is the best thing ever!
